Etceteral new animation video alert!

The local jazztronic trio Etceteral presents a video single created under the baton of visual artist Line Rice. Their strong visual component is moving from the stage to our screens. Put on your headphones, turn on HD video quality and indulge in a new world of “one shot” animation.

Aliquis Curis is the sixth track on a debut album Ama-gi, released last year on KAPA Records. If you don’t have fresh vinyls yet, you can order them through KAPA Records Bandcamp.

“Ama-gi” explores freedom in a groove of polyrhythmic patterns introduced into a strong electro-acoustic posture. The exciting package is adorned with hypnotic afro-futuristic elements, synthesizer interferences and dance sequences ranging from short improvisations to tangible melodic elements.

The international portal Beehype placed Ama-gi among the “top 10” from Slovenia, and on Radio Študent it was included in the list of the best songs in 2020.

“And really – Etceteral’s music is compelling precisely because, despite its intricacies, it manages to sound simple and get the listener to dance like a sci-fi shaman.” Matej Holc, Radio Terminal

Etceteral profilna

The unique fusion of electronics, afro-futurism and free jazz is created by saxophonist Boštjan Simon (Trus!, Litošt, Velkro, Koromač, There Be Monsters) and drummer Marek Fakuč (Marta Fakuch, Ali En, Nevarna razmerja, Pizda Materna, Natriletno kolobarjenje s praho). The musical synesthesia is emphasized by the visuals of the third member Lina Rica (Marta Fakuch, Borghesia, Shekuza Live, Knauf). With her sophisticated aesthetics, she takes care of the overall image of the band.

“Etceteral’s debut album represents the interest of its members in the fusion of live and programmed musical elements, … but the potential of this band also lies in the technological ingenuity of its members, which easily refutes the claim that they merely follow current music trends of popular London urban jazz. ”Andrej Pervanje, Radio Študent

Since its founding in 2019, the band has amassed an enviable number of concerts in Slovenia and further. They played as the opening act for The Comet is Coming at Kino Šiška, at the 61st Ljubljana Jazz Festival and Sajeta Festival. Last year they went on a European tour (Berlin, Leipzig, Amsterdam, Rotterdam, London) and came home with the new material for the debut album. Recently they’ve become one of the #INEStalents at the fourth edition of the international INES#talent support programme. This year (2021) they presented an online concert at the international showcase festival ESNS. With their infectiously free musical expression they will impress any late-night dancer and lover of freedom.

“Ama-gi, the continuous bubbling of saxophone, drums and synthesizers, is most convincing in parts that are concise and compact. In the parts where the melodic themes are cleared and where the dynamic play between heavily intertwined rhythms and saxophone jerks is in the foreground. ” Borka, Mladina
