The Canyon Observer – Figura is out NOW!

The Canyon Observer present their third full length album titled Figura.

The third album of the Slovenian post-metal, black metal, sludge driving force even further in genre mashing. To complement aggressive nature, they took an approach that is now close to classical music. With the addition to five new member for this project, the new works embody completely new sound.

Six songs that introduce The Canyon Observer as a living entity, which breathes, bleeds and transforms for the sake of existence itself. Figura shows the band as ten limbed organism of experienced musicians for many different backgrounds. The classic five-man formation gets embellished with two cellos(Tadeja Žele and Katarina Kozjek), a baritone saxophone(Jasna Kolar), an alto saxophone(Jure Boršič), and another set of drums(Gašper Prus).

The new record is a successful experiment of fusing new musicians, as well as genres, ideas and creativity. A cohesion of new members with the core of the band, where the new cells worked in the album’s creation from start to finish.

Figura is nevertheless still mostly heavy and extreme guitar music, but it finds it’s expression and form in the styles of classical music, the avant-garde of the 20th century, noise and free jazz. Although moments of post-metal, doom, sludge and black metal are quite apparent and frequent, the album revolves mostly around experimental and expressionistic tales about the human being an the band as a living entity.
